The Fairlady Z. An iconic sports car and driving force of motorpsorts and car culture since its inception in 1969.
It's a classic, a legend, and I'm thankful to say that alhamdulillah, I've got a Z. The Z is a special car. When I say Z, that includes every model, from the S30, to the Z34 and everything in between. Some are undoubtedly more special than other, however my personal favorites are:
Original 240Z, First Gen [S30]
300ZX Twin Turbo [Z32]
350Z Nismo [Z33]
370Z Nismo 2015+ [Z34]
So how then, did I end up with a Touring Model Z34? To be continued...
First Orders of Business...
The car was so low when I picked it up that it was pretty much undriveable. Okay it was driveable, but come on, who wants to cringe at every road undulation causing scrapes and clangs in the vehicle they just purchased? I'm all for the look of slammed cars, but I also desire a vehicle that I can drive from point to point without obsessing over the millimeter difference of path on the road which could result in major scrapes to the underbody. That and I enjoy exploring the limits of cars (safely) and to do that effectively, you need some suspension travel!
So the most important and urgent steps which needed to take place after bringing the car home were:
Have it professionally inspected
Complete registration
Wash and Wax!
Raise Ride Height
Apply Stickers :D
Raising the ride height was fun. The front coilovers required removing the brake line bracket and the rear collars were jammed very tight. I don't get how an extra spanner wrench is not provided to adjust the rear coilovers.
Now I know an alignment is needed after tweaking the suspension height, but that was needed anyway, since the steering wheel has been off-center since I took posession of the vehicle.
